Rio Hondo College Continuing Education Courses 

Rio Hondo College offers FREE  Continuing Education Classes at the South El Monte Senior Center.

Painting for Older Adults (NCOA 001)

This course offers the older adult an individual approach to painting and creative arts. Topics include art appreciation and art history; awareness of line, color, shape, and form; techniques in drawing and through progression through color mixing and canvas painting. Creativity and general art knowledge will be taught in a friendly and relaxed environment allowing each artist to work at their own pace.

ESL Basic-Intermediate Conversation (NESL  020)

This course focuses on basic intermediate verbal communication within routine situations common in everyday life to promote confidence in English-speaking settings. Emphasis is on communication/conversations within school, work, and community domains. This course is for students aiming to enhance speaking English proficiency. 

Conversación Básica-Intermedia ESL (NESL 020)

Este curso se centra en la comunicación verbal básica intermedia en situaciones cotidianas para fomentar la confianza en entornos angloparlantes. Se hace hincapié en la comunicación y las conversaciones en los ámbitos escolar, laboral y comunitario. Este curso está dirigido a estudiantes que desean mejorar su dominio del inglés oral.

Dance Grooves for Older Adults (NCOA 025) 

 

This course provides older adults with instruction to promote agility and cardiovascular fitness. Guided movement sequences are specifically geared towards older adults. The course includes stretches to enhance the range of movement that may benefit everyday life and activities, as well as light conditioning to promote physical stability and core strength.
