2019 Residents at the Senior Center

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Senior Center is closed to the public until further notice.

In accordance with guidance from County and State officials, the "Shelter at Home" order has been extended. The South El Monte Senior Center is closed, and all activities, classes and events have been cancelled. We will continue offering  senior meals through our Home-Delivered Meals program. For more information or to register for the program, you can call 626-448-0131.   

Thank you for your understanding, as our main concern is your health and safety along with staff, instructors and families. We will communicate any updates through news flashes on the City of South El Monte website.


The Senior Services Division is housed at the South El Monte Senior Center, which is a multipurpose center and a central access point for information and services to assist older adults (55 and older) in the community. The Senior Center is open to anyone 55 years of age or older; however certain activities and services have age restrictions.

The Senior Services Division provides community based senior programs to enhance the quality of life, independence, and well being of South El Monte citizens age 55 and older. These services include, but are not limited to:

  • Educational classes
  • Excursions
  • Health screenings
  • Nutrition programs
  • Recreation programs
  • Special events
  • Transportation
  • Volunteer opportunities


In addition to the services and programs offered at the Senior Center, seniors will enjoy the amenities it offers such as:

  • Fitness room
  • Large dining hall
  • Library room
  • Pool room
  • Various recreation rooms
